Founder

James Nicholas is the Founder and Managing Member of GenesisPoint LLC, an independent governance firm providing board and advisory services to hedge funds and alternative investment vehicles. He currently serves as an independent director and governance advisor to a range of investment funds, focusing on risk oversight, operational integrity, and alignment between managers and investors. His clients include hedge funds, private credit managers, and institutional investment platforms.

Prior to founding GenesisPoint, Mr. Nicholas was a Managing Director at UBS Asset Management and Global Head of Operational Due Diligence for UBS Hedge Fund Solutions. He served on the Management, Investment, Manager Approval, and Manager Review Committees for the UBS Hedge Fund Solutions platform, a multi-billion-dollar investment business, where he contributed to manager selection, approval decisions, and ongoing oversight, ensuring alignment with institutional investor objectives. He built and led the global operational due diligence program, overseeing a team across New York, London, Asia, and South America, covering hedge funds, private credit, private equity, ’40 Act funds, and UCITS.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Nicholas was the Global Controller at UBS O’Connor, a multi-strategy hedge fund, and began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Nicholas holds a B.S. from Trinity University and passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in 1995. He is registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) under the Directors Registration and Licensing Law.
